Puchong is perhaps one of the places in Selangor where you can find hundreds of eating places from mamak stalls to 5-star restaurants. I found out about Restoran Yap Chuan Bak Kut Teh (干肉骨茶)or Chinese herbal pork soup via Taste with Jason (Axian food programme available via Astro AEC and Asian Food Channel) and thought of giving it a try. So, on my visit to KL not so long ago, my brother and his girlfriend brought me to the restaurant together with KeeMan.

The Bak Kut Teh

The Famous Dry Bak Kut Teh

What makes this restaurant famous is its Dry Bak Kut Teh because this Chinese specialty is normally served in soup. The restaurant was not that packed during our visit because it was early. Normally it would be filled with people waiting for this delicacy.

Soup-based Bak Kut Teh

We also ordered the conventional soup-based Bak Kut Teh, which was equally good.

The Young Master Chef

Another special thing about this restaurant is its young master chef. The son of the owner. He was the one behind the Dry Bak Kut Teh idea and he prepares them on his own. You can see him in action via Axian’s blog.  You can see the pricing in the picture below (for those who can read Chinese of course). For those who can’t, the price for Dry Bak Kut Teh in claypot is RM9.00 per pax while the soup-based one is RM8.00 per pax.

The Pricing

Overall, it was indeed a good place to eat though we felt that the price was slightly expensive considering the size of the serving (in claypot). But well, in KL/Selangor, it is considered as reasonable.

The Location

The location of this restaurant is easy to spot. If you’re around Puchong area, just ask for the Dry Bak Kut Teh, and most people would give you the direction. Very famous! The address: 53,Jalan BPU, Bandar Puchong Utama, 47100 Puchong, Selangor. (8.30am – 9.30pm). Contact: 012-6744440
