Hourglass shaped body is always an ideal body shaped as it has a well-proportioned upper (bust)v and lower (hip) bodies. This curvy figure has a wide bust and hip, their measurement are essentially the same and a very well defined waist.

General weight loss- loss weight without building muscles

Suitable exercises:

  • swimming (crawl stroke only)
  • jogging (slow jog only)
  • fast walking with little to no incline

Resistance exercise – balance the upper and lower body, resistance weights light as not to build too much muscles mass for both body parts.

Suitable exercises:

  • jumping jacks
  • for upper part body: bicep curls, shoulder presses,  upright rows,  tricep kickbacks
  • for lower part body: leg-outs, one-legged-leg lifts, vertical scissors, squats, stationary biking (with light resistance)

Bottoms
  • Jeans of any type – flared, boot cut (make the hips look slimmer), straight cut, skinny jeans (enhance the curves), low waisted slacks
  • almost all skirts and dresses – pencil skirt, ‘A’l line skirt, flared skit, wrap dress, princess dress, empire dress, maxi dress, deep ‘V’ dress suited the body shape most.
Tops -focus the waist area and enhance breast feature but be simple
  • deep ‘V’ necks (makes the face and chest slimmer)
  • belted tops/trenchcoat
  • halter tops
  • wrap top (gives a  flatter the shape)
  • shoulder with frills, flounces, bows bat sleeves do not suits the average hourglass (big decorations add volume it is not needed by the hourglass shaped body)
Shoes
  • simple designed heels
  • rounded or peep toes
Accessories – keep it simple
  • belt – skinny belt

  1. Men also can do the exercise right.. hehhe.. I want a well defined waist too!

  2. You need to identify which body type you are before doing those exercises, else you might not get your desired shape/size. If I’m not mistaken you should be the apple shaped type, look for those suggested exercises that you should consider to do when you are going to gym or do your regular workout at home ;)
