Well, I have to admit that head smart (Intelligence quotient, IQ) can get you a job and heart smart (emotional quotient, EQ) allows you to keep your job. The combination of both make you a success person in work and relationship.

I must admit intelligence is mainly inherited but we can still improve our IQ in some ways.

Tips to enhance IQ

Reading and practicing –  Diverse your readings, reading stimulating books, solving mathematical problems, solving puzzles, chess playing, learning a new language or learning to solve new things might improve your IQ

Meditation – Paying attention to your breath allows you to achieve the state of mind to true relaxation and is conducive to creative problem solving.

Good Posture – Sitting/Standing in a good posture helps you to think clearly and makes you to become more focus on what you are doing or trying to do. Besides, sleeping in a proper posture is important for a quality sleep and thus your mind works efficiently the next day.

Exercise – Brain works better and competently when it gets to breath and eat well. Physically active allows blood flow and ‘jolt’ your brain to think better and clearer.

Eat Healthy- You eat peanuts you get monkeys – Just joking! The main point is that quality nutrient intake promotes quality operation in your brain. I think most of us know what is good and bad for us but we just ignore it as we just could not avoid the temptations. Well you may try gingko biloba which is proven to enhance memory and concentration. Avoid caffeine, it might improve your brain’s efficiency but only temporarily and may have adverse long term effect on regular users. Also, large quantity of sugar/carbohydrate gives you a sluggish feeling that makes you lazy/difficult to think well. This is visible especially after lunch, known as post-lunch dips.

Those who are emotionally stable can manage not only their own emotion but others and most often these people stand a higher chance to success in life. It is an extremely important factor in you living a happy, satisfying and fulfilling life.

Tips to enhance EQ

Self awareness for emotion management – Always be aware of when you are thinking/acting  negatively and the impact on others. Able to communicate your feelings in an effective way is important. When you feel angry take a few minutes break to cool yourself, take some deep breath or watch your breathing before any emotional outburst. Lighten the atmosphere with some humor then go back to the matter and solve it.

Be positive and flexible – adapt yourself quickly to your world around you optimistically. Positive attitude is always the key for happiness and spreading the positive energies to others. That alone make you a popular company to be with.

Develop a selfless helping nature – Do not think that people around you are taking advantages from you. Think this “because I can offer what others might not be able/willing to offer”. This helps to develop a health relationship and higher EQ.

Appreciate others – Human needs to be acknowledged and complimented, else they feel ignored and uncared. Show them your appreciation with a sincere praise. When they acknowledged your gesture, then they are more than ready to repeat the good work to maintain the relationship.

    if only u are already exercising by only sitting infront of the computer. that would do good for me..
